Events & Fundraisers
The Mad Dash was on September 21st, 2008
Our big fundraiser of the year is the Mad Dash Community Fitness
Event. If you have never participated, now is the time to start
(or continue) a life-long commitment to your body!
|
For the 13th year, the race started out on the Mad River Greenway,
a mown grass and dirt surfaced recreational pathway that follows
the contours of the Mad River, and then takes participants on back
roads, along the edge of farm fields, and through a covered bridge.
This year the race distances were 5K and 10K runs, a 5K fitness
walk and the Kids' Fun Run, an informal, short distance run for
boys and girls up to age 10. The first 250 to register for the runs
and fitness walk received a commemorative t-shirt and a goodie bag
with gifts and coupons. High School athletes had a special $10.00
race fee (t-shirt and goodie bags not included). Participants were
treated to a lunch buffet that included organic and locally-produced
foods and refreshments. At the end of the race there was a bib drawing
for prizes donated by area businesses and medals are awarded for
the top three finishers of the 5K and 10K races in 16 categories,
as well as medals for the fastest males and females for each distance.

Family Day on the Mad River Greenway
Sunday, May 18th
In conjunction with the Valley Walk and Roll Festival (sponsored
by Valley Moves) the MRPA is hosting a Family Day on the Mad River
Greenway from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.. Bring the whole family
as well as your bikes or hiking shoes and spend some quality time
on the Path. Stop along the river and skip a stone, bring your fishing
pole, take a rest on a bench and absorb some delicious spring air,
or do an aerobic round trip power walk to get your heart a-thumping.
Pets on leash are welcome. The event starts at both ends of the
Greenway (Meadow Road behind Small Dog, or Tremblay Road below the
Waitsfield town garage), and there will be lemondade and cookies.
You will have the opportunity to become a new member of the Mad
River Path Association or renew your current membership.

Mad River Path Association's Benefit Bake at Flatbread
Friday, October 26, 2007
See the newly developed map of the Path, showing how far the MRPA
has come in the last twenty years, and the direction that we would
like to go in the future. Renew your membership or become a new
member and help contribute to the operational and funding needs
of almost fifteen miles of trails in Warren, Waitsfield and Fayston.
We are looking for a few energetic new Board members who would like
to help us with our mission of connecting the towns, so if you use
the Path and love the Path, or just want to make sure the Path never
goes away, please consider joining the Board of Directors. Read
herein and find out what the Mad River Path Association is all about! |
