The Future of the Mad River Path
Over twenty years ago a group of Mad River Valley visionaries began
talking about creating a continuous trail system that would stretch
from Warren to Moretown, connecting the communities, schools, recreation
areas and centers of commerce. Ideally, the new path would stay
as close to the Mad River as possible and be pedestrian-friendly,
accommodating walkers, runners, bicyclists, snowshoers and cross-country
skiers. Read more...
The 20th Anniversary Benefit Bash is HISTORY!
Posted 6/3/07
The dust has settled
on the Pavilion at the Lareau Farm Inn, and over 150 friends and
supporters of the Mad River Path ate well, danced with wild abandon
and bid fabulous amounts of money on our spectacular collection
of over 35 silent auction items. Thank you to those who attended
our celebration, and from all of the positive feedback we have received
it looks like the Bash will become an annual Spring Rite of Passage!
As we begin our 20th year, it is with a high degree of hope that
this will be the year that we put our first legal easements together.
The towns of Warren and Fayston are both eagerly awaiting the completion
of the new easement document that our Landowner Relations Committee
has been working on for several months. We are planning on offering
several options to those who own land along our current and proposed
Path routes and we are looking forward to a future that includes
a reality of permanent trails and greenways for the Mad River Valley.
This summer will be a busy one for the Path. We have a lot of work
to do – clearing brush, cutting water bars, taking apart old
bridges, building new ones, and getting ready for our 12th Mad Dash
Race on September 23rd. As always, we welcome new members, new volunteers
and new energy. Join us!
